The Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union offers the CSUN community the opportunity to connect with us and enjoy the virtual fitness resources and services that are available during Fall 2020.

Virtual Group Exercise Classes

Daily Via Zoom & Other Online Services

Break a sweat from the comfort of your own home during our Virtual Group Exercise classes! Stay in shape by participating in fun fitness classes such as Zumba®, Pilates, High Intensity Interval Training Camp courses and more! Sign up for a Virtual Group Exercise class, and stay energized from home with the SRC!

You can keep crushing those fitness and health goals by subscribing to the Student Recreation Center’s YouTube channel! You’ll gain access to a variety of brand-new pre-recorded fitness and wellness videos every Friday featuring some of your favorite SRC fitness instructors. You can turn up the heat with some bodyweight workouts or cool it down with some slow movement exercises. Either way, the SRC is here to keep you healthy and well all semester long!

Mega Sweat Sesh
Starts Wednesday Sept. 30
Via Zoom

Sweat it out with the SRC during our Mega Sweat Sesh live on Zoom! Starting Sunday, Sept. 30, you can enjoy live virtual Group Exercise classes led by some of your favorite SRC Fitness Instructors! You can choose from either Zumba Fitness, HIIT Training or Vinyasa Flow—or, if you’re up for a challenge, you can join us for all three!

  • Zumba Fitness: Wednesday, Sept. 30 
  • HIIT Training: Wednesday, Oct. 21 
  • Vinyasa Flow: Wednesday, Nov. 18

Fall Back Into Fitness
Monday, Sept. 14 – Sunday, Oct. 25

Fall Back Into Fitness this semester with our six-week virtual fitness program. All you have to do to take part in this festive program is engage in a variety of activities that promote your overall health and fitness. You’ll earn points as you go and become eligible to win some pretty awesome prizes with each milestone you reach!

FIFA 20 Tournament
Monday, Sept. 14 – Friday, Oct. 9
Via Xbox One & PS4

Go for the gold this fall semester with Intramural Sports at the Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union during our FIFA 20 Tournament! FIFA fanatics of all levels, here’s your chance to compete against other Matador gamers on either Xbox or PlayStation and battle it out to claim victory. The player with the most wins on each console will be crowned FIFA 20 Tournament champion and score an awesome prize!

Register to join in on all the FIFA action before Friday, Sept. 9 through IMLeagues.

Virtual Fit In 6
Starts Monday, Sept. 14 

It’s time to reach those fitness goals! The Student Recreation Center is here to help you put yourself first this semester with the virtual Fit in 6 fitness program starting on Sept. 14. In just six weeks, we’ll help you enhance your workout routine, set sustainable fitness and nutrition goals and become an overall stronger you. Plus, you’ll have access to exclusive fitness resources and weekly virtual check-ins with an SRC Personal Trainer.

Everyone who completes all program requirements will be entered into our raffle to win some awesome prizes! Register now through Wednesday, Sept. 2 via the SRC Portal and don’t forget to attend our mandatory virtual orientation to go over challenge expectations.

Virtual Matty 5k
Friday, Sept. 25

Make strides this semester! The Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union encourages everyone in the CSUN community to join us for our Virtual Matty 5k. On Friday, Sept. 25 you can join us in completing our Matty 5k by either walking, jogging or running. Step outside for a breath of fresh air and get moving with us from wherever you are!

Madden 20 Tournament 
Monday, Oct. 26 – Friday, Nov. 20

Get back into the game of NFL football with the SRC during our virtual Intramural Sports Madden 20 Tournament! This semester, we’re putting the game in your hands with an exciting new online competition featuring one of the most popular sports game franchises of all time. After signing up on IMLeagues, set up your matches on the SRC’s Discord to tackle the competition in Madden 20 on PS4 or Xbox One. Don’t fumble your chance to win an awesome prize! 

NBA 2K20 Tournament 
Monday, Oct. 5 – Friday, Oct. 30

Jump off the sidelines and into the NBA 2K20 Tournament, an exciting Intramural Sports virtual competition on Xbox One and PS4 from the Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union. Here’s your chance to compete against other Matador gamers to and show them who really dominates the court. The player with the most wins on each console will earn the title of champion and walk away with an awesome prize.

External Virtual Fitness Opportunities

CrossFit At Home
CrossFit At Home is a great way to keep your fitness routine in motion right now – no matter where you are. This resource is an essential way to keep your goals within reach and at your fingertips with instructional videos about individual workouts, functional movements, and nutritional meal ideas.

Blogilates has a wide range of quick 10-12 minute workouts by Cassey Ho, an award-winning fitness instructor based in Los Angeles. Her positive approach is a great way to have a fun and engaging virtual workout. While you’re at it, explore some of her articles covering an array of topics revolving around fitness, nutrition and other health-related topics.

Fitness Blender
Redundant workouts make it hard to stay motivated. But having a diverse collection of workout routines in your hands can help you plan accordingly and get the results you’re looking for. Fitness Blender has an easy-to-use video library that helps you customize your workouts based on available time, exercise difficulty, available equipment and training type. This unique fitness resource will help keep your workouts fresh and effective whether you’re on the go or at home.

Get moving and build momentum towards improving your mental and physical health! The YMCA’s Y360 health and fitness videos provide a great opportunity to engage in a group yoga class from where ever you may be. It’s a wonderful way to relax and feel the healing energy that a guided meditation class can provide.
