USU Games Room Renovation Invites Matadors And Outside Organizations to Experience Friendly Competition

July 26, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northridge — The Games Room of the University Student Union (USU) is proud to announce that its renovated entertainment center is available for the students and outside organizations. These state-of-the-art amenities give the Games Room a modern atmosphere while immersing gamers in an environment full of passion, drive and joy.

“The Games Room is excited to collaborate with our partners across campus,” said Intramural Sports and Day Camp Coordinator Demetrius Scott. “Our goal is to have programming days that groups can reserve our spaces, where students are free to be themselves and meet a diverse group of Matadors.”

Open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the Fall and Spring semester, the Games Room offers students the opportunity to chill and game on with their peers. Matadors can play billiards or enjoy a huge library of the latest console and PC games including Mario Kart 8, Valorant, Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite and many more. In the past, they have hosted successful events for the CSUN community such as the Billiards Tournament, Smash Bros Tournament and Among Us Party. Renovations of the room include high-end Gigabyte AORUS gaming PCs with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards and AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6 core 3.7 GHz central processing units. This array of ambient additions make the Games Room a leading destination for entertainment.

The renovated Games Room also includes a dedicated space for CSUN’s Esports Club to meet, practice and stream competitive games together. Esports President Angelica de Leon noticed that meeting on campus at the Games Room has created a sense of unity as they can bond over games and motivate each other during competitive games.

“When you make a play, you have your friends and your team around you to pretty much gas you up and that does do a lot especially if you guys are competing together so the sense of comradery present versus when you play online, you can only do so much,” said de Leon.

Outside organizations can even take part in this unique gaming experience through private rentals. Those interested can reserve a space through USU Reservations and Event Services’ Mazévo portal or call 818-677-2251.

It’s time to play with your peers at the renovated USU Games Room! For more information on the Games Room, please visit csun.edu/src/games-room or email Demetrius Scott at or call 818-677-5480.
