Get Certified in One Day for Live-Saving Skills with “Virtual American Red Cross CPR/First-Aid/AED” from the SRC

May 4, 2021

Northridge — The Student Recreation Center (SRC) at the University Student Union (USU) invites all CSUN students, faculty and staff to a special skill-building opportunity at our Virtual American Red Cross/CPR/First Aid/AED Classes on selected Saturdays from May 22 at 9 a.m. to August 21 at 4 p.m. Register through the SRC Portal starting Monday, May 3 to get First Aid certification for just $57. All participants can learn crucial skills that can save lives and become American Red Cross certified in one day!

“The SRC is excited to offer these informative hands-on courses while staying socially distanced” said Ryan Hairapetian, SRC aquatics coordinator. “We made it easy and accessible for Matadors to take this opportunity to learn how to respond to emergency situations.”

During these virtual Saturday classes, you will acquire the skills needed to respond to cardiac, breathing and other emergencies by obtaining your CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) and First Aid certification that same day. Just sign up under “Services” through the SRC website or visit

Once registered, each participant will be provided with a manikin, AED (Automated External Defibrillator), one-time use gloves and a mask at specified pick-up and drop-off time. This curbside equipment distribution will take place Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 p.m. at the F-4 parking lot. You will need to return the equipment one week later. Registration will close every Sunday prior to the Saturday class. For example, in the case of a class held on Saturday, May 22, registration will close Sunday, May 16 and allow participants to pick up their equipment the week leading up to the class. In addition, equipment booking will begin on Monday, May 17.
