UPDATE: Modification to Travel Restrictions - Essential Travel Request Process

December 13, 2021

Good morning, Principal Investigators and Research Administrators:

The Provost Office has announced the modification to travel restrictions on essential travel request process.

At this time, the Provost's Office will no longer require all travelers in Academic Affairs, including travel in research and sponsored projects, to submit the Essential Travel Request Form for international travel (through myCSUNglobe travel applications), or attach to eTravel Travel Authorizations (TA) for mileage, domestic, and international travel. If this form is required in the future, Provost Office will provide updates as new information becomes available.

With this change, I have outlined the updated TUC travel procedures, which hopefully provides a helpful guide when submitting your travel requests:

Students are not required to submit travel authorization via eTravel system. Volunteers who are traveling in a sponsored project must complete the TUC volunteer ID form at least two weeks before traveling.

Please reach out to your Post-Award liaison if the employee is unable to access eTravel system via Northridge portal so our office can add the individual as an authorized traveler on the sponsored project.

2. Submit expense report within 60 days after the last day of your trip.

Traveling to a banned state

1. Traveler to complete Request for Approval of Travel to Prohibited States Under Assembly Bill 1887 form. Volunteers who are traveling in a sponsored project must complete the TUC volunteer ID form at least two weeks before traveling.
