Details for TUC Employees on COVID-19 Vaccinations and Testing

August 9, 2021

Dear Principal Investigators:

TUC Human Resources has sent the email below to all TUC employees, including employees working on sponsored projects.

This is to inform you that The University Corporation (TUC) intends to follow similar vaccination and testing guidelines for TUC employees (see email below dated August 6, 2021).

Please note that CSUN faculty will not be required to complete the TUC Vaccine Verification Form. Only TUC part-time and full-time staff, including student employees, will be required to follow the procedure.

Kindly contact TUC Human Resources at tuchr@csun.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Grace Slavik, Associate Director, Post-Award

This communication is a follow up to the Matadors Forward message (below) sent to the campus on August 4, 2021 regarding campus guidelines on COVID-19 vaccinations and testing. The University Corporation (TUC) intends to follow similar procedure for TUC employees.

VACCINATION INFORMATION

Per the CSU COVID-19 Vaccination Interim Policy, faculty, staff and student employees working on campus will need to provide certification of full vaccination status or request a medical or religious exemption no later than September 30, 2021. Please note that depending on the vaccine, it can take up eight weeks or more from the first shot to full vaccination. We recommend that employees who have not received their first shot to do it as soon as possible.

Similar to the campus, TUC employees may now provide this self-certification through the myNorthridge Portal. Once logged into the portal, under The University Corporation pagelet of the Staff tab (at the bottom of the page), select TUC Vaccine Verification Form link and complete the form accordingly.

For medical and religious exception requests, please consult with TUC Human Resources.

TESTING INFORMATION

Again, faculty, staff and student employees working on campus will need to provide certification of full vaccination status or request a medical or religious exemption no later than September 30, 2021. TUC employees who do not self-certify that they have been fully vaccinated by fall semester, or who have provided a medical or religious exemption, will be required to do a free weekly COVID-19 testing before coming to campus until the September 30 mandate takes effect. After September 30th all staff must be fully vaccinated or an exemption must be granted. After September 30th those that have received an exemption will be required to continue to test weekly.

Initial testing will need to be completed by August 30, 2021 and then weekly thereafter. Weekly testing will be at no cost to the employees and will be conducted during work hours. The COVID-19 test is a PCR nasal swab which will be administered through a third-party vendor, Fulgent. On campus testing will be available Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at kiosks located near Extended University Commons and University Student Union (USU) Freudian Sip. Test results will be provided 24 to 48 hours after test date.

TUC employees who have certified their vaccination status may voluntary choose to participate in on campus testing as long as the individual is not experiencing symptoms.

We are waiting instructions from the campus on how to schedule a testing appointment.
