High honors & significant accomplishments awards

Congratulations to Pauline Serrano on receiving the 2022 Nathan O. Freedman Memorial Award for Outstanding Graduate Student.

This is scholarship is one of the highest honors awarded to a graduate student at CSUN and it is presented based on a record of distinguished scholarship and a minimum GPA of 3.5. Learn more about this graduate scholarship.

Ms. Serrano is currently a 2nd year graduate student in the Psychological Science master’s program and will be graduating in spring 2022. She is lab coordinator Dr. Yolanda Vasquez-Salgado’s Culture, Health and Development Lab at CSUN. Throughout her graduate studies she has published 2 articles, delivered 5 conference presentations, served as a presenter for over 15 panels or workshops, served in multiple teaching programs and roles across campus, and maintained a 4.0 GPA. Pauline's thesis is titled, "Home-school Cultural Value Mismatch, Anxiety, Academic Problems, and Self-Efficacy in a Sample of Underrepresented Minority Freshmen".

 

 

 

Congratulations to Alejandra Bermudez-Torresfor receiving the Robert H. Schiffman Memorial Award

for Outstanding Research Promise

This award recognizes a graduate student who shows great promise in scholarship, research or creative activity.

Ms. Bermudez-Torres work is quite impressive on the Autonomy Research Center for STEAHM (ARCS) projects. Through the Anthropology department, this project included leading a project to understand public acceptance of risk and perception related to unmanned aerial systems (UAS) used by law enforcement.

 

 

 

Congratulations to Alyona Rogojina for receiving the 2022 Association of Retired Faculty Graduate Project/Thesis Memorial Award.

 

This award is designed to recognize excellent scholarship and provide financial support for graduate student creative activities that are a required part of a master’s program. Learn more about this graduate scholarship.

Ms. Rogojina is currently a 2nd year graduate student in the Psychological Science master’s program and will be graduating in spring 2022. She will be attending her doctoral program at the University of California, Santa Barbara in fall 2022.
