Court of Appeal Building frontThe Department of Criminology and Justice Studies is hosting a special session of the California Court of Appeal to be held here at the CSUN campus for the benefit of our students and campus community.

The Court of Appeal will be hearing arguments in three cases on October 16. The first will be a Proposition 57 criminal case in which the non-violent crime criteria for correctional realignment (i.e. movement from state to county correctional facilities) will be addressed. The second is a civil case challenging actions taken in the face of police misconduct. The third is a civil case that addresses the conflict between state and county authority to create, define, and manage political committees and other working groups in county-level government in Los Angeles.

Communication services (sign language interpreters, note takers) are available for this event. Requests for services must be submitted at least five (5) working days in advance. Please contact the CJS office at 818.677.2117.
