Charles Macune Memorial Celebration

Charles W. Macune Jr. passed away on Thursday May 7th after suffering a major stroke.  A memorial celebration of Professor Macune’s life and contributions will be held at the United Methodist Church in Thousand Oaks at 3 pm on Saturday May 30th.  The church is at 1000 Janss Road which is located immediately west of the Freeway 23 Exit for Janss Road. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Windsor and left at the first intersection on Whitecliff and first left into the church parking lot.  Either the Simi Freeway 118 or the 101 Freeway provide access to the Freeway 23 exit for Janss Road.  There will be an open mike at the celebration so please bring your stories, memories and appreciations to share.  A reception will follow the celebration.

The Macune Family has asked that any memorial donations be made to the Charles W. Macune Jr. Scholarship Award at California State University Northridge where Professor Macune served for over 40 years as an inspirational teacher, and leader of the faculty, a chairman of the Department of History, and a generous and understanding colleague with everyone.

The Macune Scholarship Award is given to outstanding History majors or Graduate students who have demonstrated excellence in one of the many areas in which Professor Macune assisted students, most notably the presentation of a research paper at a professional conference, publication of a journal article, classroom performance,  performance as a teaching aide with other students, and leader of a student organization.

Donations to the Charles Macune Award account may be made as follows: Checks should be made out to the CSUN Foundation and on the note line on the check write Charles W. Macune Scholarship.
