The (M)others: Performance & an Oral History WorkshopThe (M)others explores the stories of four women brought together by the unimaginable experience of losing a loved one at the hands of police. This documentary performance weaves together their interviews to explore the traumatic effect of the event on their lives.

The words spoken in The (M)others are verbatim excerpts from interviews conducted by Nikki Yeboah with Bay-Area mothers who have lost loved ones at the hands of police. Through their stories, we get closer to understanding the toll police violence takes on families. These are the narratives of those who are left to put back the pieces after their loved ones are gone.

The performance will follow an Oral History Workshop for students and community members, led by Oakland-based artist and scholar, Nikki Yeboah.
