Voluntary COVID-19 Employee Testing | January 28, 2021

Dear Campus Colleagues:

The health and well-being of our CSUN community remains our priority. To support employee wellness, we are pleased to announce that CSUN will be offering voluntary COVID-19 testing (at no cost) for faculty, staff and student employees who have been approved to work on campus during the Spring 2021 semester.

Although the testing is voluntary, CSUN leadership strongly encourages participation given it is our collective responsibility to help reduce the spread of the virus. This voluntary testing can provide individuals with their COVID-19 infection status, identify infection trends through anonymized results, and enhance personal and campus COVID-19 prevention efforts.

We have contracted with an independent company, Picture, by Fulgent Genetics, to provide At-Home PCR Testing kits.

Employees wishing to complete the testing at home can redeem a coupon code to have a free self-testing kit (Nasal Swab) mailed directly to your home. After the sample is collected, you return it overnight with a pre-paid FedEx shipping label directly to the Fulgent lab. Within 24-48 hours after receiving the sample, Fulgent will provide your test results in their web portal (available in English and Spanish) to your personal and confidential account.

CSUN will only receive aggregate campus test data and will not have access to individual employee test results, which are considered private medical information. Please note, Picture/Fulgent Genetics is required to report any positive cases to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH). If an employee tests positive, the vendor will relay the results to LACDPH who will directly contact the employee.

For more information and to participate in this testing program, please select the following link.

Ongoing testing will be available every fourth week for faculty or staff who choose to participate in the program. Continued participation may be withdrawn by the employee at any time.

Please complete the voluntary registration form by Wednesday, February 3rd to be considered for the first round of scheduling.

Remember, if you are approved to work on campus by your supervisor:

  • Prior to reporting to work, and on a daily basis if scheduled, submit an Employee Screening Survey via the CSUN app or the myNorthridge portal; based on your result, you will receive an immediate message and email stating you are cleared to report to work or to stay home with further instructions; if cleared for work, share the email with your administrator.
  • Wear face coverings at all times; the face covering may be removed in a private office.
  • Maintain 6-feet social distancing.
  • Adhere to hand washing and workspace hygiene requirements.

If you have questions that are not addressed above or in the COVID-19-Employee-Testing site, please contact Human Resources at employeecovidtesting@csun.edu, or (818) 677-6566.

Thank you.
