CSU Alliance for Preparing Undergraduates through Mentoring toward PhDs

The California State University Alliance for PUMP consists of the following campuses: Channel Islands, Dominguez Hiills, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, Pomona and San Bernardino. The CSU Alliance PUMP Program, Preparing Undergraduates through Mentoring towards PhDs, invites applications for two new programs. Applicants from all campuses are encouraged. Old PUMP Program

PUMP is a project funded by the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences under the NSF program Workforce in the Mathematical Sciences. This project is hosted by the Department of Mathematics at CSUN and focuses on increasing the participation of highly qualified students from the San Fernando Valley in Mathematical Sciences Ph.D. programs. Activities include summer and winter institutes, weekly seminars, honors calculus for high-school students, advanced mathematics course work and undergraduate research projects for math majors, and problem-solving sessions. With these activities and under the guidance of the faculty involved in this project, students will acquire the maturity needed for initiation to mathematical discovery, and will also broaden their vision of mathematics. For information on each of the components of the PUMP project visit the sites High School and Undergraduate Programs.
