Road Map to the Future FAQs

What is the Road Map to the Future?

  • Road Map is charged by President Beck to shape campus conversations to develop priorities in response to concerns and opportunities surfaced in the Listening Tour.
  • The Steering Committee is building an inclusive process, applying an equity lens, to seek and develop priorities that build on existing achievements at CSUN and to develop greater equity and inclusion across CSUN.
  • We want to help the campus become intentional stewards of our resources, so that we can stand in our values of inclusive excellence.

What is the Role of the Steering Committee?

  • The Steering Committee’s role is to facilitate the engagement that will identify the campus priorities – big picture ideas – for the future.
  • Our work is to reach out to people all across campus and gather input on what is important for the future of CSUN.
  • The Steering Committee is NOT considering or making decisions on program funding.

What was the Process for Selecting Steering Committee Members?

The process of selecting Road Map Steering Committee members began in August 2021.  The selection of faculty was through the recommendations of Deans.  The selection of staff and administrators was through the Cabinet; every vice president was asked for a nomination.  Students were selected through Student Affairs and Associated Students.

What About Specific Projects?

  • The Steering Committee’s planning ends in May with a report of campus priorities.
  • Over the summer an operational plan will be developed based on the priorities and necessary resources will be considered.
