Prospective Students

eTranscript California

Sending your transcripts to CSUN using eTranscript California allows for faster processing and helps us share your admission decision sooner. Plus, it’s free for students who have attended any of the California community colleges in List 1 below.

If you are applying to CSUN and wish to transfer course work from a school on List 1, we will request your electronic transcripts from the school. We will request both preliminary transcripts showing in-progress course work and final transcripts at the appropriate times.

In some cases, your school may be unable to fulfill our request for transcripts. This can happen if the name on your CSUN application doesn’t match the name on file at your community college or if the name of the school you attended, and from which you wish to transfer course work, is missing from your CSUN application. Be sure to check your CSUN Portal regularly to make sure we have received your transcripts.

If submitting course work from schools on List 2 below, you will need to order and possibly pay a fee to have your electronic transcripts sent to CSUN.

If you are not applying for admission but want to transfer credits to CSUN, see “Electronic transcripts for current CSUN students,” below.

List 1 — Schools that accept CSUN’s request to send electronic transcripts at the time of application.

The following California community colleges will automatically send electronic transcripts at CSUN's request at the time you submit your application for CSUN admission.

IMPORTANT! If you are in any of the following situations, YOU must request your transcripts from the community colleges in List 1 (CSUN cannot request them):

  • You did not report attending the school on your Cal State Apply application.
  • You did not report a work-in-progress course on your application.

REMEMBER: It is your responsibility to confirm that CSUN has received your transcripts. Log into the CSUN Portal and view My Checklist. If more than one week has passed since transcripts have been ordered, we recommend contacting the sending institution.

If you are a current student (i.e., you have already been admitted) and want to transfer course work from a California community college to CSUN, please request electronic transcripts using eTranscript California (if available), from any of the schools you’ve attended in lists 1 and 2 above. Check with the sending institution about their rules and fees (if any) for ordering electronic transcripts.

Electronic transcripts from other vendors, or those sent to us in Portable Document Format (PDF) must be printed and processed manually as paper transcripts. Paper transcripts take up to eight weeks to evaluate.

Please do not send identical, duplicate paper and/or electronic transcripts.
