Pride Center

Trans Awareness Week at CSUN

November 2, 2012

What:
The Pride Center, in partnership with LGBTA, Matadors for Equality, the Women's Resource and Research Center, Vote for Equality, and Gamma Rho Lamba, will host Trans Awareness Week.

Who:
Cadence Valentine, LGBTQ Peer Mentor is coordinating this event.

When:
Tuesday, Nov. 13 to Friday Nov. 16. See attached schedule.

Where:
University Student Union (USU). See the next page for specific rooms.

Why:
To raise awareness and education about the trans community and the issues facing them.

Background:
Often when discussing the LGBTQ community, the “T” (transgender) is often ignored. By raising awareness  about the trans community, the campus will be better informed and supportive of the needs of trans students.  This event will occur for four days in the USU. Each day will feature different activities and close with; Transgender and Transcendent: An Evening with Missy Parker, which is a comedy, musical, storytelling show performed by multi-award winning transgender performer, Missy Parker.
