Northridge — This month, the Pride Center at the University Student Union (USU) marks five years as a campus destination and welcoming space for the LGBTQ community at CSUN. On Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., all CSUN students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate with the Pride Center at its “5 Year Anniversary Celebration” in the USU Grand Salon at the USU. All attendees will enjoy casino games, an art exhibit, a raffle and free food and mocktails!
“The Pride Center is a unique support resource available to the CSUN community and we are extremely proud of all we have been able to accomplish these past five years,” said Pride Center Coordinator, Sarina Loeb. “Our ‘5 Year Anniversary Celebration’ will reflect on our past achievements, preview what we have in store for the future and provide everyone with a really fun time just celebrating the Pride Center!”
The festivities will begin with a keynote speaker and a special recognition of the Pride Center founders. Attendees can also view a special slide show commemorating the Pride Center’s past events and accomplishments throughout the past five years.
The night will be filled with fun activities like a photo booth, an art exhibit and a whole section for casino-themed games. Chips won during casino games can be redeemed for tickets that can be entered into the event’s raffle. Celebrants will also be treated to free food and mocktails.
Admission is free for students, faculty and staff and only $10 for alumni and community members. All proceeds will go to the Tanni Block Memorial LGBTQ Scholarship, in support of the Pride Center’s goal to raise $35,000 in endowment of the scholarship this year.
