Honor the Lives of Departed Loved Ones With the USU for Dia de los Muertos

WHAT: The Pride Center of the University Student Union (USU) in collaboration with the DREAM Center and Veterans Resource Center invites the CSUN community to honor their departed loved ones at Dia de los Muertos. Starting Tuesday, Nov. 1, a community altar will be held on display paying tribute to each centers’ respective members who have crossed over. The vibrant celebration continues Thursday, Nov. 3 as everyone brings their own photos of loved ones that have crossed over to decorate picture frames while enjoying conchas, café and tamales. 

WHO: Whitney Workman, Acting Pride Center Coordinator, is supervising this event. 

WHEN: Community Altar: Tuesday, Nov. 1 to Thursday, Nov. 3 Dia de los Muertos: Thursday, Nov. 3 from 2:30-4 p.m. Noche de Ofrendas: Thursday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. 

WHERE: Community Altar: (11/1/-11/2) USU TV Room and (11/3) Plaza del Sol, University Student Union Dia de los Muertos: Plaza del Sol, University Student Union Noche de Ofrendas: Chicana/o House 

WHY: Dia de los Muertos offers the CSUN community the opportunity to celebrate and remember the lives of their departed loved ones while also connecting with other Matadors. In addition, this event brings awareness to the cultural traditions and significance of Dia de los Muertos.
