“Queer in Your Career” Offers LGBTQ Students Inspiration and Connection with Professionals “Out” in the Workplace

March 26, 2019

Northridge- The Pride Center and its campus partners are presenting a one-of-a-kind networking event, “Queer In Your Career”, specially designed for LGBTQ students looking forward to finding work after graduation. On Wednesday, April 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Northridge Center at the USU, all CSUN students are invited to this FREE event that will include a dinner and panel discussion where you can hear current LGBTQ professionals from a variety of fields talking about what it’s really like being “out” in the workplace. During the event’s Resource Fair  at 5 p.m., students will also have the opportunity to network with LGBTQ-friendly companies and have their professional headshots taken for free.

“A common fear among many young, emerging LGBTQ professionals is being ‘out’ in the workplace and if it will be a positive experience,” said Sarina Loeb, Pride Center Manager. “At ‘Queer in Your Career’ students will get to hear firsthand about the experiences of LGBTQ professionals who have been ‘out’ and working in their careers for years.

They can also meet face to face with businesses who are fully committed to their LGBTQ employees being comfortable and accepted on the job.”

“Out” professionals participating in the panel discussion will share their personal experiences and go in-depth about how they have come so far while embracing who they are. Students will also be able to network with the panelists over dinner.
