URGENT - notification for personnel 65 yr and older or medically compromised

March 15, 2020

Dear Faculty, Staff and Administrators,

Currently, there are no confirmed COVID-19 cases at CSUN, and campus is open and operational. However, this afternoon, California Governor Gavin Newsom instructed all Californians age 65 and older and those who the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have identified as higher risk to COVID-19 to self-isolate at home. CSU Chancellor Timothy White has affirmed and repeated this instruction to all CSU Presidents.

Due to this new guidance, we seek your compliance to self-isolate in your home if you fall into one of these categories and not come to campus Monday. Please also contact your supervisor/department chair as soon as possible so they are aware of your circumstances. Employees who are able to work remotely are encouraged to do so and remain productive, continuing to advance the operations and mission of the CSU. Those who cannot work remotely will receive guidance from their supervisors/faculty chairs as soon as possible.

On Friday, I communicated the need for flexibility as we navigate the changing workplace landscape as a result of COVID-19. With the Governor’s instructions, I too will begin working remotely and practicing self-isolation.

We continue to operate guided by the health, safety and well-being of the entire campus community as our top priority with the goal to continue our mission in service of students.

Should you have any specific workplace questions, please refer to our Faculty and Staff FAQs and contact your supervisor.

Thank you again for your patience and your dedication. Be well.

Sincerely,

Dianne F. Harrison, Ph.D.
President
