Statement on CSUN’s Cultural Houses

June 26, 2019

We at CSUN are proud of the campus’s cultural houses and aware of the historical significance of the Black House, the Omatsu House, the Chicana/o House, and the Central American Studies and American Indian Studies Cultural Center,  as well as the Women’s Research and Resource Center. As President and with the endorsement of the Cabinet, I fully support these houses as places for student engagement and academic support, and are grateful to the academic departments that work in conjunction with students to provide supervision and programming in these spaces.

Please be assured that these houses will continue to be assigned to each corresponding academic department. I would also like to reaffirm that I remain committed to maintaining the cultural houses in their current locations and I will confirm the support of students and departmental faculty for any future University plan to fund improved permanent facilities.
