Good morning, CSUN Community!

Today is my first official day as a member of this academic community and, though we are still wrestling with the tragic complexities associated with COVID-19, I want you to know that I am genuinely honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve this university. Though we can’t be together on our physical campus, I look forward to getting to know you virtually in the coming days and weeks and indeed, gathering in-person across every corner of our beautiful campus when it is safe to do so.

Starting today, I will be taking part in a 100-day listening tour of the Matador community and I will be working with faculty, staff, and student leaders to ensure I capture broad perspectives in my effort to lead through listening. There is much to learn and I look forward to connecting with many of you on the opportunities as well as the challenges that lie ahead as we work together to facilitate a brighter and more equitable future for our students, employees, and our communities. At the conclusion of these first 100 days, I will report back to all of you all on what I learned in this important process.

I have admired Cal State Northridge from afar for many, many years. The impact that each of you, through your sustained and collective commitment, has had on the region, the state, and on higher education more broadly, is frankly unparalleled and I look forward to writing our next chapter together as we turn to a crisp new page in our journey as a vital bridge to a brighter post-pandemic future.

Stay well and healthy and I’ll see you around our virtual spaces!
