Matador Fire Relief Fund

November 13, 2018

To the Campus Community,

Yet again, communities in Northern and Southern California are experiencing horrific wildfires, including areas in which our students, employees and their families live. Unfortunately, strong winds continue to make this situation an ongoing threat, and I am grateful for the bravery of the firefighters and first responders and thankful to all who are assisting in providing emergency relief.

I have been saddened to learn that some in our campus community have been directly affected by the fires. For those of you who have experienced evacuation or the need to leave your residence for any reason, I hope you are soon able to resettle and resume some semblance of normalcy. If you have experienced hardship due to the impact of this disaster, employees should contact Associate Vice President for Human Resources Kristina de la Vega, and students should contact Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students William Watkins. We will continue to support and work with you during this difficult time.

Our campus community consistently pulls together in challenging times, and this crisis is no different. Let me thank all faculty and supervisors who have provided consideration and support for students or employees. Additionally, for members in our community who would like to help by providing financial support, we have established a Matador Fire Relief Fund to help the students, faculty and staff who have been impacted by the Southern California wildfires.
