President's Office

Appointment of Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Mary 17, 2018

To the Campus Community:

It is my great pleasure to announce that, following a search, Dr. Stella Theodoulou has been named Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and will begin her appointment June 25, 2018.

As many of you know, Dr. Theodoulou has served as Vice Provost since January 2017 and, prior to that appointment, was Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences since 2001. Prior to the deanship, she was a professor in the Department of Political Science, where she began teaching in 1986 as a lecturer. She was appointed assistant professor in 1990, received tenure in 1994 and promoted to full professor in 1998.

Given Dr. Theodoulou's record of distinguished service and leadership at CSUN, particularly her outstanding work as Vice Provost and Dean, I am very pleased the university will continue to benefit from her contributions. As Vice Provost, she has provided strong support to the Provost and leadership to Academic Affairs on a variety of issues and initiatives that serve to advance our academic mission to support student success. Her commitment, experience and vast knowledge of the campus will provide continuity and allow the university to continue its forward momentum during this time of transition. We have begun moving forward on the search for a permanent Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and hope to conclude the search later this calendar year. Dr. Theodoulou does not plan to apply for the permanent position.

I would like to thank the search committee for its efforts: Debi Cours, Professor of Marketing, Jerry Schutte, Professor of Sociology, and Adam Swenson, Faculty President and Professor of Philosophy.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Theodoulou on this appointment.
