Great news! Transfer students can apply for spring 2023

CSUN is opening up spring 2023 admissions for all upper division transfer students. We’re accepting applications Aug. 1-31.

Who is eligible:

  • Upper division transfer students
  • Returning students
  • Veterans
  • International students
  • Student athletes

Help us spread the word about this exciting opportunity and encourage your upper division students to visit our transfer student pages for eligibility information and important deadlines.

More great news!

SAT and ACT scores permanently eliminated as part of admissions requirements

CSUN (and all other universities in the California State University system) will not require or consider SAT and ACT scores as an evaluation category for admissions. The scores weren’t considered for the past two years, and the California State University Board of Trustees recently voted to make the change permanent. Note: test results will only be used for placement in college-level math and English courses.

The Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP) is open for registration

The SAEP is a five-week academic enrichment program for middle and high school students hosted by CSUN’s College of Education. It runs from June 20 to July 22. This summer activities are in person!

Head to the Summer Academic Enrichment Program website to get details about courses, fees and scholarship information.

CSUN is doing in-person outreach

Our outreach counselors will once again be visiting college fairs and doing in-person presentations, application workshops and preadmission appointments on school and community college campuses. More details on specific events are coming soon.

Let’s all cheer for fewer Zoom calls!

Good to know

CSUN added three exciting science majors for undergraduates:

  • Environmental Science, B.A.
  • Geographic Information Science, B.S.
  • Geography and Environmental Studies, B.S.

And we’ve got new campus amenities and resources on the way!

Innovation Hub for students in STEM

CSUN is partnering with Apple and the California State University to launch the Global Hispanic Serving Institution Equity Innovation Hub.

The Innovation Hub will support historically underrepresented students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs. The Hub will be a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest Apple technology and will provide programs, mentorship and enrichment opportunities.

New Student Union Building

Our University Student Union is in the middle of a renovation and expansion project that will include the construction of a new 79,800-square-foot facility with study lounges, shaded outdoor spaces, and dining and meeting spaces.

Sierra Annex

CSUN is breaking ground on a new 40,145-square-foot building to house lecture halls and classes. Lots of natural light, more space to spread out and classrooms with modernized tech are just some of the features we’re planning to incorporate for a more inviting learning environment. The new facility is slated to open in fall 2023.

That’s it for this edition! But now we’d love to hear from you — send us your questions and comments. Contact Student Outreach and Recruitment at or (818) 677-2967.
