NSO Leadership Program Applications

PLEASE NOTE: *Orientation Leader Applications are not available for the 2022 season of the NSO Leadership Program, please expect Orientation Leader applications to open early Spring 2022 semester.*

NSO Leaders support the efforts of all orientation related programs. Serving as a campus resource, these trained student volunteers are knowledgeable about the college experience and assist new students in their transition to CSUN. Leaders accomplish this, by aiding in the development of the student’s personal, social, and academic skills for success.

New Student Orientation will take place in a two-phase process. The first phase requires new students to go through an in-depth online orientation that will cover introductory information about the institution. In the second phase, NSO leaders will be tasked to lead small zoom sessions to properly welcome our fellow matadors. In these zoom sessions, leaders will review the following themes; Personal Welcome & Meeting Others "In a Virtual World," Student Involvement & Belonging, Academic Success, and TAKE. Leaders will also be asked to discuss the online transition process and how their past experiences influenced their education while attending university online.

With the everchanging nature of COVID-19, there is a possibility that students will have the opportunity to return to campus. As a result, Orientation may become a hybrid experience for the incoming class of 2022. NSO leaders will be asked to lead small groups of students on a short tour around the campus. In this instance, we will make sure to adhere to the safety guidelines and social distance students.

All times and dates are subject to change at any time based on programmatic need. Additional trainings and/or events may arise over the summer as well. Adequate time will be provided for all Orientation Leaders to allow them the opportunity to make necessary arrangements in attending.

Required Training Sessions for 2021
