The Office of Community Engagement—based on the principles of reciprocity, civic responsibility, and democratic values—seeks to:
1. Enrich scholarship and enhance the curriculum for students, faculty, and staff
2. Create high impact, community-based academic experiences
3. Sustain reciprocal community and academic partnerships between CSUN and the San Fernando Valley and the greater Los Angeles area communities
4. Prepare educated, engaged citizens to become lifelong, civically minded learners and leaders
Our Spring 2019 Service Learning Grant Applications are now CLOSED
Community Engagement Offers the following grants to tenured, tenure-track, and lecturer faculty:
- Faculty Community Engaged Research Grant ($2,000)
The purpose of this grant is to support a faculty member conducting community engaged research or disseminating research during the Spring 2019 academic year.
- Student Scholar: ($500)
The purpose of this grant is to support a service-learning faculty member's course by providing a student scholar to offer assistance with the S4 database, risk management protocal, and other pedagogically-related activities during the Spring 2019 academic year.
- Disciplinary Grant ($3000)
The purpose of this grant is to support one faculty in designing and implementing a service-learning course. This grant includes a student scholar to offer assistance with the S4 database, risk management protocol, and other pedagogically-related activities during the Spring 2019 academic year.
