New Transfer Student Advising Checklist

Welcome! This checklist will guide you successfully through your first semester at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). It’s an exciting time, but it can be confusing. University policies and requirements may differ from those of your previous institution. This list of important first steps will help smooth your transition.

Transfer Student Alliance (a CSUN club for transfer students)

We build community for our transfer students with transfers and transfer allies.

Transfer students often find themselves in transfer shock after coming to four-year universities. Most universities have transfer centers with designated staff and resources, but in lieu of established support for transfer students at CSUN, we created Transfer Student Alliance for students, by students.

The Badge Project (a workshop series for transfer students)

The Badge Project is a two-year series of helpful workshops on various topics, such as intro to research careers, attending national conferences, and applying for summer research opportunities. The project incorporates transfer receptive culture into the workshops to better prepare STEM transfer students for graduate school, research careers, or professional careers.
