Elections in L.A. County feature huge House races, big names, sheriff fight, #MeToo

In the 39th and 45th Assembly districts, Luz Rivas, D-North Hollywood, and Jesse Gabriel, D-Encino, are expected to capture full terms after winning special elections to replace Raul Bocanegra and Matt Dababneh, Democrats who resigned amid sexual misconduct charges. Rivas faces Republican Ricardo Benitez, and Gabriel faces Republican Justin Clark, a 19-year-old Cal State Northridge student.
