2016 in Review: 16 LA stories that mattered this year

• The San Fernando Valley’s business landscape also changed. While the region lost a 61-year-old Macy’s in North Hollywood, the last store in Laurel Plaza, and a Jerry’s Deli on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, the City Council also signed off on a plan for a toymaker’s new Chatsworth campus. MGA Entertainment, which sells Bratz dolls, has plans for a 24-acre development near Prairie Street and Winnetka Avenue that will include 660 market-rate apartments, retail and restaurants while relocating its Van Nuys headquarters to the site. Cal State Northridge also announced plans to develop a hotel on its campus.
