It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Patricia A. (Patti) Kroupa, daughter of former CSUN President James Cleary and his wife Mary. Ms. Kroupa died on Tuesday, October 17, following a three-year battle with breast cancer. Services will be held on Friday, November 3, in Boise, Idaho, near the family home.

Dr. Cleary was president of California State University, Northridge for 23 years (1969-1992) and was responsible for developing many of the programs that exist today. All of us - students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni - owe a debt for the outstanding service to CSUN of James and Mary Cleary. I know you join me in expressing our condolences on the passing of their daughter.
