Graduate Programs in Business

Evening MBA Program

The CSUN Nazarian Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is designed for working professionals with classes offered in the evenings. Classes are an engaging mix of lecture, analysis, class discussion and group activities based on business cases, current articles and topical reading materials. Students are encouraged to openly share and discuss ideas with their peers and professors. The program emphasizes experiential learning.
The MBA program consists of eight core courses and three elective courses. The core classes include Analysis of Contemporary Organizations, Economics of Strategy, Seminar in Financial Theory and Policy, Behavior in Organizations, Marketing Management Seminar, Computer-based Management Information Systems, Seminar in Internationally Competitive Operations Management, and Seminar in Strategic Management. Students who do not have a business undergraduate degree may be required to take up to 15 - units of foundation courses, but these are not required for admission to the program.

Electives vary by semester but include specialized topics in management, finance, marketing, international business, sustainability and the entertainment industry. Students have the option of graduating with a general MBA or with a special concentration in one area of study. Elective concentration options include accounting, entertainment, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources, information systems, international business, management, marketing, sustainability, and systems and operations management.

At the end of the MBA program, students participate in a comprehensive culminating experience that utilizes the depth and breadth of the coursework leading in its entirety.  While a few students choose to take a comprehensive examination, most students satisfy this requirement with the CSUN Nazarian MBA Consulting Project. In the consulting project, students work in small teams with a client organization on a large scale project. They produce a strategic business or marketing plan, feasibility study, or similar for the client.
