Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) is one of the nation’s largest electrical supply distribution networks, with over 600 locations. For over 60 years, the company has serves Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, and Ventura Counties with Profit-Centers—a term for their business locations—in Southern California and across the United States. Some of CED’s subsidiaries include Royal Wholesale Electric, Davis Wholesale Electric, Specialty Lighting Distributors and All-Phase Electric.

through a rotational program, and provides them with career opportunities if they seem like a great fit. Many Nazarian College students have interned at CED, three of which accepted opportunities to stay on as full-time employees in the last year. Gabriel Dorame, a business management major graduating this fall, accepted an offer for a full-time position with CED after his internship in the summer and hopes to one day become a manager of his own Profit-Center.
“The internship was important for me because it helped me grow as a person, adjusting to an industry that I was never familiar with, and it gave me some direction to where I want to be in the near future,” said Dorame.
He was introduced to CED through his classmate who was already in the internship program at the time, Arturo Padilla. It was through Padilla’s praises of CED that Dorame decided to apply for their internship program, and the rest is history.
Padilla, a spring 2019 CSUN graduate in business management, enjoyed learning all aspects of running a business while interning at CED. He also appreciated the opportunity to step outside of his comfort zone and gain experience from company employees.
“I have developed great professional relationships with both employees and customers, some of which have become really close friends,” Padilla said. “The successes I have had in my short time with CED created new opportunities for myself and others.”
Padilla interned the summer of 2018, was promoted to Operations Specialist in August 2018 and again to the Profit-Center Manager at All-Phase Electric Supply in Palmdale in September 2019. Nazarian College alumnus, Axel Sandoval, has been hired to assume Padilla’s previous role at All-Phase Burbank. Sandoval, who graduated with a degree in business management alongside Padilla, was initially drawn to All-Phase Electric and CED by its size and structure. He enjoyed the ability to lead short-term, small-scale projects alongside long-term, larger project that were backed by CED.
“I would encourage students to take an internship with CED for the diversity of work, such as logistics, accounts receivable, sales, and management,” said Sandoval. “CED offers all opportunities to their interns. After gaining experience in different fields, interns can then choose what works best for them.”
