UPDATED Jan. 7, 2022. Per CSUN's announcement on January 7, CSUN will begin the spring semester with temporary primarily remote instruction for the first three weeks of the semester, Monday, January 24 through Friday, February 11. We will resume in-person instruction on Monday, February 14. Per the California State University’s new policy, all eligible students and non-represented employees will be expected to provide proof of a booster shot by February 4. More info: Students. Emily Serebryany ’94 (Accounting) has some words of wisdom to share with CSUN’s aspiring entrepreneurs: Success lies in trying new ideas, and failure is the risk of trying.
To support CSUN’s innovators and risk takers, Serebryany recently made a $50,000 gift to establish the Emily Serebryany Leadership Fund in Entrepreneurship in the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics. The fund is open to all full-time CSUN students who have creative ideas and dream of starting their own businesses.
“With this fund, I hope to support students who have the dreams and courage to venture out on their own and start their own companies,” she said. “It is also my hope that students with backgrounds similar to mine will apply: first-generation immigrants and women. I want to help them succeed.” Read more.
Edward Kung, an assistant professor of economics at California State University, Northridge, said there is no question that the influx of short-term rentals, like those offered by Airbnb, led to higher rent prices and adversely impacted the housing supply, particularly for long-term renters. He’s done the research to prove it. Read more
