Financial Wellness Clinic
Take control of your finances with the help of the new Financial Wellness Clinic. Open to students, faculty, staff, and community members, the clinic provides personalized guidance in budgeting, credit management, student loan repayment, retirement planning, and more. Whether you’re experiencing financial stress or simply want to strengthen your financial skills, our resident financial planner and para-planners are here to help you explore options and build a plan that works for you. If you are serious about taking control of your finances, consider enrolling in FIN 102, our personal literacy course. Not only will it provide 3 units towards your degree, but it counts as a General Education Lifelong Learning course.
FIN 102: Covers basic financial terms and institutions and the tools necessary for students to make wise financial decisions. Topics covered include budgeting, borrowing, managing credit, financial planning, and related topics.
FIN 302: Prerequisite: completion of lower division writing requirement. Examination of the concepts necessary for the rational allocation of personal resources. Emphasis is on the significant financial decisions facing each household during its lifecycle. The role of financial institutions and government economic policy is evaluated in the context of their potential impact on personal financial planning. Meets the Lifelong Learning Requirement. Counts as Finance elective for Finance majors and minors.

When you arrive, you’ll be paired with a peer para-planner — a senior finance student trained to support the campus community with real-world financial guidance. Together, you’ll talk through your goals and concerns, then create a personalized plan to help you move forward with confidence.
We understand that financial stress can feel overwhelming, and there’s no need for embarrassment. Whether you’re facing debt, living on a tight income, or struggling with essentials like food and housing, our team is here to listen, support, and guide you toward practical solutions.

Financial Wellness Coaches
Frida Barranco I was born and raised in the South Central and Koreatown areas of Los Angeles and am a senior majoring in Financial Planning with a minor in Economics at CSUN. I have been actively involved in several Los Angeles–based volunteer organizations, including income tax preparation and college readiness programs serving low-income communities. I am able to assist Spanish-speaking individuals and families and am committed to helping clients work toward their financial goals.
Jonathan Castro I am a Finance major at CSUN with an emphasis in Financial Planning. My passion for helping others, combined with a deep appreciation for the importance of financial literacy, inspired my pursuit of a career in Financial Planning. Through dedication and hard work, I have been fortunate to earn a Summer Analyst internship with JPMorgan’s 2026 Financial Advisor Development Program.
Miriam Hanna As a senior Financial Planning student, I am committed to supporting individuals and families with tax preparation and related financial needs. I bring experience in customer service, client-focused roles, and volunteer service, and I am certified as an Advanced Level VITA Tax Preparer. These experiences have prepared me to provide clear, reliable guidance in both professional and community-based settings. I am passionate about helping others navigate financial challenges and am fluent in English and Egyptian Arabic.
Andrew Rosette Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, I am a senior majoring in Business Administration with a double option in Financial Planning and Risk Management & Insurance. I previously worked at Wells Fargo as a teller and have gained finance internship experience, most recently with Medtronic. I am passionate about helping others improve their financial literacy and staying actively engaged within the community. I enjoy supporting others and contributing my skills where needed.
Omar Sanchez I am a double major at CSUN in Accounting and Finance, with a focus on Financial Planning. I have completed two internships and am currently pursuing a third as an Audit Intern. I am actively studying for the CPA and plan to also obtain my CFP designation in the future. I am fluent in Spanish for those who prefer to communicate in Spanish.
