TEMPO Ensemble Wins First Place

April 25, 2019

Congratulations to the TEMPO Ensemble for winning 1st prize in the Doug Davis Composition and Performance Awards 2018 for their performance of Fred Lerdahl’s Time After Time at CSUN on September 30, 2018

The Doug Davis Composition and Performance Endowment is dedicated to support and honor the performers and creators of music. The intention is that this endowment will financially support the performers of a specified musical composition each year, a reward for the focus of their talent. With the assistance of the California State University Bakersfield music faculty, this endowment will also award commissions to create new compositions. My hope is that this tiny pebble tossed at the future will inspire others to create larger pools of support for the performers and the creators of music.

TEMPO (The Epicenter Music Performance Organization) was originally formed in 2008 by Daniel Kessner and Julia Heinen. Ensemble members include: David Shostac, flute; Julia Heinen, clarinet; Nancy Roth, violin/viola; Lorenz Gamma, violin;viola; Erika Kirkpatrick, cello; Francoise Regnat, piano; John Magnussen, percussion; and Glenn Price, conductor.
