Congratulations to Dr. Lawrence Stoffel, who has been awarded the CMEA (California Music Educators Association) Hall of Fame Award, honoring lifetime achievement in Music Education. CMEA is an affiliate of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), one of the world’s largest arts education organizations.
Dr. Stoffel is the current Higher Education Representative for CMEA and has been for the past several years. He recently completed a four-year project which involved creating a new position in the organization to help teachers in urban or rural districts and the extra challenges that they might have.
“I am grateful for our students and their high-level of achievement because without them, I would never have had so many professional opportunities come my way. This award is as much for them and for all CSUN Music Department students, faculty, and staff. The award is a reflection of the CSUN Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony’s extensive outreach activities, workshops, clinic sessions at conferences, and other activities.”
Dr. Stoffel is the third faculty from CSUN to receive the Hall of Fame award.
