CSUN String Players Win Positions in American Youth Symphony

October 5, 2014

Over 70 violinists auditioned for less than 10 openings  in the violin section of the American Youth Symphony. The first violinist of CSUN's Honors Quartet and student of Michael Ferril, Shawn Cai, was successful in winning one of the openings, performing the 4th caprice by Niccolo Paganini.
Bassists, David Bowman and Freddy Hernandez, students of Oscar Meza's, were successful in becoming regular members this season as well.
We congratulate the students, who will be representing CSUN in one of the top orchestras in Los Angeles, which is made up of members from Colburn School, USC, UCLA, & CSUN.
