
Biography
Kimaree Gilad, oboist, featured soloist, recording artist, festival artist and recitalist, is Oboe Faculty at CSU Northridge. Her orchestral performing career includes being a member and featured soloist of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra from 1983-2013, as well as a featured soloist with various ensembles on both coasts. She has performed with renowned orchestras and ensembles such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Bach Festival, the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra (Baroque oboe), Musica Angelica (Los Angeles); the New York City Opera, the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra; the Bellas Artes Orchestra of Mexico City, and the Deutsche Opera of Berlin. Premiere performances of new music include John Biggs’ Oboe Concerto and Micah Levy’s new work for English Horn and Chorus.
Ms. Gilad’s recordings span orchestral, chamber music, film, and contemporary music. Her orchestral and chamber music recordings include Yarlung records with Neville Marriner, RCA Victor records with Brian Asawa, and additional recordings under the Nonesuch, Hanssler, Dorian, and Centaur labels. Under the direction of Helmut Rilling in the Oregon Bach Festival, Ms. Gilad was part of the Grammy Award-winning recording of Penderecki’s Credo. Her television and motion picture recordings include the Matrix movies and films scores by Don Davis. Contemporary music recordings can be found on the Arcobaleno label.
As a festival artist and recitalist, Ms. Gilad was a member of the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra for 15 years; toured with the Gachinger Kantori of Stuttgart, Germany; Instrumental Program Director of the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival (2005-2010); and West Coast Coordinator of Chamber Music for “Music for All Seasons”. In the Festpel in Piteo, Sweden, she was hailed as “the highlight of the program”. She continues to receive soloist and masterclass invitations from the People’s Republic of China, where she plans to return in 2015.
In addition to her professional performances, Ms. Gilad is also Music Specialist for the Conejo Valley Unified School District and maintains a large private studio.
