Featuring Bob Mintzer. Bob is one of the most influential composers and saxophone players in the world!

The CSUN Jazz "A" Band is recognized as one of the finest college jazz bands in the nation. The band's recordings are heard on jazz radio stations around the world and have received rave reviews. The most recent recording, "CSUN Originals II - Rain Song" is the second album to exclusively feature student arrangements and compositions. A new CD of student compositions is currently in the works!!

The award-winning CSU Northridge Jazz "A" Band regularly performs at major music festivals including the Monterey and Reno Jazz Festivals. The band was selected to perform at the Seattle Jazz Experience festival in 2015 performing with composer, Chrstine Jensen. The band has performed in Europe, China, and Australia, as well as the United States.

The A Band plays a wide variety of repertoire from traditional through modern jazz. The band has played Gil Evan’s Porgy and Bess, Miles +19 (Miles Ahead), Birth of the Cool as well as music by Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer, Count Basie, Maria Schneider, and many other significant jazz composers.

Guest artists with the band include Randy Brecker, Larry Goldings, Bob Florence, Tim Ries, Clay Jenkins, Vince Mendoza, Bob Sheppard, Gordon Goodwin, John Clayton, Bob McChesney, Dave Holland, Peter Erskine, Dave Holland, Gary Foster, Bobby Shew, Fred Sturm and many others.
