Don Giovanni, o sia il convitato di pietra
The familiar story of the famous womanizer and his demise into damnation told at rapid pace and with humor through the music of Giuseppe Gazzaniga. This incarnation was produced eight months before Mozart’s more famous version and follows Tirso de Molina’s play The Trickster of Seville and the Stone Guest.
The tragic tale of a woman who bears a child out of wedlock and is sent to a convent to repent for her sins. Sister Angelica is overcome with grief when she receives word via her aunt that her son has died. In her agony she commits suicide in the hope of once more seeing her beloved child. This tale of love, pain, and redemption is beautifully rendered through the rich music of Giacomo Puccini.
Each opera is about an hour in length.
