A native Texan, clarinetist Candis Badgley relocated to Los Angeles in order to pursue her Master of Music degree from California State University, Northridge. While at CSUN, she served as the concertmaster and principal clarinetist of the CSUN Wind Ensemble as well as principal clarinetist of the CSUN Symphony Orchestra.  As winner of the 2015 CSUN Concerto competition, she appeared as soloist with the CSUN Symphony Orchestra.

Along with large ensembles, Candis is an active chamber musician and freelancer in the Los Angeles area. She has performed in the N’Cinq Woodwind Quintet and Wind Advisory Woodwind Quartet, recorded for several short films, and currently serves as the clarinetist and artistic director for the Valley Chamber Ensembles, a San Fernando Valley-based non-profit chamber ensemble.  Ms. Badgley also maintains an active private studio and became a faculty member at California State University Northridge in 2016, teaching clarinet and coaching chamber ensembles.

Featured on such recordings as Music from the Heart from the Heartland, Candis has been described as possessing “an innate and intuitive sense of musical nuance” with a “beautiful tone.”  Ms. Badgley received her Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, from Wichita State University under Dr. Suzanne Tirk, and her Master of Music, with distinction, from CSUN under Dr. Julia Heinen.
