Baritone Dr. David Sannerud is Associate Professor of Music at California State University, Northridge and is coordinator of the voice area. His duties include the instruction of graduate and undergraduate studio voice, German Diction, Opera Workshop, and he serves as the music department graduate coordinator.

Students of his have distinguished themselves in competitions including The Metropolitan Opera Auditions, the Palm Springs Opera Competition, the Bel Canto Competition, and many NATS competitions. Many of his students have been chosen to participate in prestigious young artist apprentice programs such as those at Los Angeles Opera, Orlando Opera and the Pittsburgh Opera Center. Students of Dr. Sannerud have performed throughout the country and internationally as soloists with prestigious symphony orchestras, and in prestigious opera houses, such as Los Angeles Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Virginia Opera, The Netherlands Opera, Opera Panama, Houston Grand Opera, and Orlando Opera. He is frequently invited to serve as adjudicator of vocal competitions and has done so for the Meistersinger Competition at AIMS in Graz, Austria, the National Association of Teaches of Singing and the Metropolitan Opera Auditions. He has been hired as a vocal/language coach for Sony Classical Recordings. Dr. Sannerud has been a member of the faculty at The American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria.

He has performed as a recitalist in Los Angeles, New York, Munich, Toronto and elsewhere, and has performed as soloist with many symphonies across the U.S., such as the New Haven Symphony, the Norfolk Music Festival and the Flagstaff Symphony. He has performed on the operatic stage with Connecticut Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, the Pittsburgh Opera Center and Yale Opera. He has served as stage director for numerous professional and university operatic productions, and for four seasons was stage director and producer of the operas at the Bear Valley Music Festival in northern California.

He has been published in Ars Lyrica, and the Opera Journal in which he reviewed the Mozart operas at the Salzburg Festspiele in Salzburg, Austria. He has served as a director on the executive board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Dr. Sannerud holds a BM from Pacific Lutheran University, a MM from Yale University and a DMA from the University of Arizona.
