Alexandra Monchick holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts from The University of Michigan and a PhD in historical musicology from Harvard University. She has published articles and reviews in German Life and Letters, The Journal of Music History Pedagogy, The Musical Quarterly, and German Studies Review, and has a forthcoming chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Spectral and Post-Spectral Music. Professor Monchick's work interests include twentieth-century opera, silent film, and the music of Paul Hindemith. She is the Past-President of the Pacific Southwest Chapter of the American Musicological Society. In the 2019-2020 academic year, Professor Monchick will be on leave working on a monograph on music in Berlin during the interwar period.
