Biography

B.A. 1965, University of Southern California
M.A. 1997, California State University, Northridge

Prof. Marks has taught broadcast journalism at CSUN since 1991.  He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, and grew up the San Fernando Valley, attending North Hollywood High School and Valley Community College.  He has degrees from USC (BA journalism) and CSUN (MA political science).  Marks worked as a writer and producer at KTTV News for three years, and at KNBC and NBC News for 23 years.  He also worked at CBS and KTLA news.  Marks won four Emmy Awards for writing and producing, and 5 Golden Mikes for writing and producing.  He worked as an adjunct professor at USC for 13 years.

At CSUN, Marks has taught J100, J315, J335, J415, J445, and J498.  He created two broadcast journalism courses, J325 and J335.  Marks is married to Rebecca Marks, and has three children, Greg, Kim, and Dempsey, and two grandchildren, Max and Dylan.
