Journalism hosts Fall 2018 events

Journalism faculty, staff and students have scheduled several special events this Fall. They include:

 

  • Banned Books Week Read-Out, co-sponsored with Oviatt Library, 1-3:45 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, Lakeview Terrace, USU.
  • Speed Mentoring, co-sponsored with the Journalism Alumni Association, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, Ferman Presentation Room, Oviatt Library. Mentors lined up from companies include NBC4, 23ABC in Bakersfield, Power 106, DistuptivAgency, the Santa Clarita Signal, Daily News and L.A. Times. Many more are expected, providing a mix of representatives from broadcast, public relations and a host of digital companies.
  • 60th Anniversary Alumni Reunion, 6-10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, Manzanita Hall and Northridge Center, USU. Also, co-sponsored by the Oviatt Library, this event will acknowledge the completion of the digitization of all editions of The Sundial, starting with its first in February 1957. The event will commemorate the 148 editors who have led The Sundial.
  • National Media Literacy Week, Nov. 5-9, Manzanita Hall. Journalism students will be among the students participating in this interdisciplinary community engagement project connected to The Newseum. It’s under the direction of Dr. Bobbie Eisenstock.
