THE CSUN GRADUATE PROGRAM IN SCREENWRITING

     NOW OFFERS A 42-UNIT TERMINAL

MASTER OF FINE ARTS IN SCREENWRITING DEGREE

Welcome writers, filmmakers, and creators of television programming. Whether you are just starting out as a writer or you’re an experienced media professional preparing to teach, our new terminal Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting degree has been created to serve your needs. This MFA program focuses on mastering the foundation for all cinema and television narrative – the script.

Every good storyteller deserves the opportunity to have his or her vision realized on the screen. And more than any other narrative form, script writing requires training. Structural concepts, mastering the creation of character and dialogue, dramaturgical insights, the many technical aspects of filmmaking – all must be practiced and developed in order to reach a writer’s strongest potential.

The CSUN Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting Program offers an intensive, pragmatic terminal degree experience that prepares career-minded students to pursue the many rewarding creative professions available in film and television. It also prepares those who have a passion for teaching at the college and university levels, including experienced industry professionals.

Film, television, webisodes, multi-media gaming – all exist only to tell stories. Our new Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting degree mentors twenty-first century storytellers toward entertaining, moving, and inspiring the world.

Applications are accepted only once a year, from October 10 through February 10, for the following fall semester. We do not offer spring admission.
