Levon Parian Biography
Levon Parian is an internationally recognized, award winning photographer whose works have been published extensively in books and magazines. Levon specializes in people photography and photo montage and finds it challenging to walk the thin line between commercial and fine art. His experimental style has always pushed the boundaries of photographic self expression and has been collected by private individuals as well as museums, galleries and universities.
Levon studied photography from two different schools of thought. In 1977 he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for his art photo background. In 1980, he attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena for his commercial background. He freelance assisted for Playboy, Helmut Newton, and Alice Springs for three years before starting his own photography business in 1984. Parian’s client list includes MGM, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, Columbia/Tri-Star, Capital Records, PolyGram Records, Epic Records, Electra, Toyota and others. He completed his Master of Fine Art Degree at California State University, Northridge in 2008.
Levon has been teaching at Cal State Northridge since 2005 and says he loves teaching at CSUN because, “It keeps me sharp and forces me to keep up with the digital age…not to mention I get a faculty parking spot.”
