PERMUTATIONS: The Work of Robert Bassler
August 28 – October 14, 2023
CSUN Main Gallery
This exhibition surveys over 40 years of work by CSUN emeritus faculty Robert Bassler (1935-2022) focusing on his investigations into abstraction, geometry, and transparency. Bassler utilized a broad range of media – including metal, cast resin, plexiglass, and painting – that allowed light and shadow to interplay with his solid forms. Bassler’s manipulation of material and optical effects created works that are simultaneously physical and ephemeral, continually shifting and evolving each time they are viewed.
