Fall 2026 Hazing Prevention Week Program

The keynote speaker for the Fall 2026 Hazing Prevention Week Program is Dr. Jason Meriwether. Dr. Meriwether’s presentation will focus on the impact of hazing and violence in fraternities and sororities, and effective risk assessment and anti-hazing practices.

All three sessions will take place in the USU Grand Salon. Interpreting services will be available upon request. Request for interpreting services are collected as part of the event sign-up process. Requests for interpreters must be received by Sunday September 27, 2026.

  • Session 1: Monday October 5, 2026 5:00pm to 6:30pm (check-in starts at 4:30pm)
  • Session 2: Tuesday October 6, 2026 2:00pm to 3:30pm (check-in starts at 1:30pm)
  • Session 3: Tuesday October 6, 2026 5:00pm to 6:30pm (check-in starts at 4:30pm)

Attendance Requirements for Fraternity and Sorority organizations

  • Each fraternity and sorority organization must send the minimum number of active members to one (1) of the Hazing Prevention Week Program sessions to meet the chapter's minimum attendance requirement.
  • For the purpose of the Hazing Prevention Week program attendance requirement, the MIC considers an active member to be a member initiated into the organization prior to the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Chapters will only receive attendance credit for active members, currently enrolled at CSUN (or a community college) for the fall 2026 semester, that are listed on the chapter's spring 2026 roster, or updated roster.
  • Community college students must provide proof of enrollment (i.e., a current class schedule, note screenshots from a digital device will not be accepted) at a community college for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • The attendance minimum is based on the chapter's spring 2026 roster or the most recently submitted roster.
  • The chapter’s minimum attendance number is available on the Chapter Minimum Attendance Requirements webpage
  • To update the chapter’s roster use the provided roster template to update the information for active members (DO NOT include new members on the roster) and submit the Roster Update form by Thursday October 1, 2026.
  • MIC staff will verify attendance records against the chapter's roster.

Effective Engagement Expectations for Fraternity and Sorority Members:

  • All attendees must arrive on-time
  • All attendees are required to be present the entirety of the session in order to receive credit (you may not leave early)
  • Attendees will not be allowed into the event after the session has started.
  • The chapter will not receive credit for active members that arrive late or leave early.
  • Attendees should not be participating in distracting activities while in attendance (i.e., sleeping, on the phone, talking, attending an online course, etc.)

Sign-up to attend the Fall 2026 Hazing Prevention Week Program

Make-up Option

Fraternity and sorority organizations that do not meet their chapter’s minimum attendance requirement will be required to host a one-hour hazing prevention program in collaboration with a CSUN university department or program.

  • The event must occur on-campus no later than Friday December 11, 2026 by 5:00pm.
  • The event must be open to the CSUN community.
  • The chapter must work with the MIC to ensure the event objectives, topic, presentation, materials, etc. meet identified standards and the event is promoted to the CSUN community.
  • The number of active members (initiated prior to the fall 2026 semester) required to meet the chapter’s minimum attendance requirement for the Hazing Prevention Week program must attend the event hosted by the chapter.
  • The chapter is responsible for providing interpreters (if requested) for the event
  • The chapter is financially responsible for event related expenses and for reserving the on-campus event location.

Chapters that do not attend the Hazing Prevention Week Program or do not complete the make-up option by the deadline, will not be able to participate in Spring Meet the Clubs or Meet the Greeks.
