Childhood obesity is increasing as a concerning public health issue
To alleviate this problem, "Let's Grow Healthy" provides a complete gardening program
The goal is to ensure that every child and plant "grow healthy"
Children will learn about nutrition, health and sustainability
CSUN faculty, staff and students work with the schools to provide hands-on training and program
The program provides interdisciplinary opportunities for faculty and students to collaborate
A sense of empowerment is created between families and their children
Healthy eating habits will be promoted in the community
The program uses grant funding by promoting gardening and healthy eating
The program hopes to reach out to schools and organizations
The goal is to build or revive at least 13 gardens
Our mission is to build and maintain a garden in every school
And ultimately help to improve the health and well-being of families and larger communities
Student success = Faculty success
