Thrive with Diabetes Program

Learn how to properly manage diabetes while living life to its fullest! A diagnosis of diabetes doesn’t mean you have to stop living your life. With a few lifestyle modifications, you can get right back on track! Gain all of the necessary tools and knowledge to take control of your diabetes from nutrition professionals in a welcoming, virtual space.

What can I expect to learn from Thrive with Diabetes Program?

You can expect to learn how to properly manage your diabetes through a number of avenues. Healthy eating and exercise are the two best ways to manage diabetes. You will also learn how to properly manage your blood sugar and medications. The program will help inspire you to stay motivated and be proactive!

When will the classes be held? How long are the classes?

This program is a combination of individual meetings with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and group classes. To get started, you will meet with an RDN via telehealth to discuss your health history and unique health goals. Then you will attend 4 group classes that cover different topics. At the end of the program you will meet with an RDN to discuss the progress of your health goals and make a plan on how to continue your wellness journey.

Monthly Class Schedule (On-Going)

1st Week: Introduction to Diabetes

2nd Week: Nutrition and Diabetes

3rd Week: Monitoring, Medications & Exercise

4th Week: Healthy Coping

It is recommended that you attend all classes to receive the full benefits of the program. After you have completed your initial first appointment with our RDN staff, you will be given the login information to attend classes.

Who is eligible for the program?

The Thrive with Diabetes program is only open to individuals diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes. Individuals without  pre-diabetes or diabetes may join as a support person to an enrolled participant.

How much does the program cost?

Thrive with Diabetes is $150 per person 

Will I be able to ask questions during the virtual classes?

Yes, of course! We welcome you to ask any questions you have regarding diabetes.

How does Telehealth work?

Telehealth works best on a computer or smartphone with a camera. If both of those options of unavailable, you may also call in via phone. All Telehealth consults are HIPAA compliant and are geared to protecting your privacy and medical information. Our sessions will be held on the “Healthie” platform. You can access “Healthie” through either a desktop version or a smartphone app. You will receive an email reminder two days before your class. This email will then provide you with information on how to join your class!

Does a diagnosis of diabetes put me at risk for anything?

If left unmanaged, blood sugars that are uncontrolled for long periods of time can lead to nerve and vascular damage. This damage is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and heart problems. But, with proper manage of blood sugars the risk is greatly reduced!

How can I properly manage my diabetes?

There are plenty of ways to help manage your diabetes. We will cover everything from carb counting, monitoring blood glucose, diabetic medications, how to cope with a diagnosis, and everything between!

Will I learn how to manage/lower my A1C?

Yes! You will learn how to properly manage your A1C. We will provide you with plenty of knowledge and tools to better your long-term glucose management.
